If you want to see all that Scotland has to offer on a motorcycle, you’d be hard-pressed to pick a better trip than the 100 miles that run from Glasgow, Scotland’s largest city, to Fort William – known as the ‘Outdoor Capital of the UK’! This lengthy route has a bit of everything.
Take the High Road
From central Glasgow, it’s only 20 miles to the banks of scenic Loch Lomond, a beautiful stretch of water that leads you straight into The Trossachs National Park. The well-made A82 cuts through spellbinding mountain scenery as it takes you north. It’s a popular site for roadworks so stay alert to broken road surfaces, particularly in wet weather.
A Highland Legend
Beyond the Bridge of Orchy, you’re in for a treat as you pass through iconic Glen Coe. In good weather, nowhere in Scotland is more spectacular. Try to focus on the road and not the exceptional views as you turn right along the beautiful shores of Loch Linnhe to Fort William.
