The Applecross peninsular is one of the most beautiful parts of the Scottish Highlands and this much-loved Scottish motorcycle route across Ross and Cromarty boasts exquisite views. Known for its famous hairpin bends and steep climbs, this ride is definitely one to remember.
Applecross Inn
Start your journey at the Applecross Inn, a beloved local landmark on the shores of the Inner Sound that looks across to the isles of Raasay and Skye. From there, head west and the route starts rising sharply. This is a popular road, but it is single-track, so take care when overtaking.
Sensational Scotland and sensational Scottish motorcycling
On reaching the top of the mountain, it’s well worth taking a breather at the famous Bealach na Bà viewpoint. If that view wasn’t enough, just five minutes on, the switchbacks that look down over Loch Kishorn offer another ravishing example of Scotland’s natural beauty. Turn right at the A896 towards Lochcarron for more splendid scenery.

You may feel like this is heaven but keep your wheels on the ground. Many road users around here get so blown away by the views that they forget to concentrate on the road – be careful.
