This gentle route snakes down the county of Argyll and Bute. Starting at the resort town of Oban, it’s a stunning ride that takes in undulating forests and smooth waterside paths along Scotland’s west coast.

A classic Scottish port town on a classic Scottish motorcycle route

Oban, the beautiful starting point for this Scottish motorcycle route – is also known as the ‘Gateway to the Isles’. It’s an important ferry port with a beautiful sheltered bay. Instead of hopping on a ferry, head south out of the town through the rolling forestland that forms part of Scotland’s famous Dickie Bow Motorcycle Route.

Take the motorcycle route towards Loch Gilp

Turn off the Dickie Bow at Lochgilphead and ride south on the A83. This wide road has a series of sweeping bends that offer a smooth ride. Increase your turning circle for better visibility around each corner. Near Tarbert, you’ll cross to the western side of the Kintyre Peninsula for wonderful views towards the Isle of Gigha.
